About the role :
The Senior HR Manager for Japan is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive people plan that aligns with the business strategy for the Japan Region, while upholding the company's purpose and values.
This role collaborates with the Country Manager of Japan and the Japan Leadership team, holding direct accountability for the HR Business Partner, Talent Acquisition, and local HR Admin team, and indirect accountability across the HR Centres of Excellence.
Reporting to the VP HR Asia Pacific, the ideal candidate is an experienced senior HRBP, adept at both strategic and operational HR delivery, with extensive experience in partnering with teams and businesses through change in a global, matrixed environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as an advisor to the Senior Leadership team, influencing key business decisions to ensure company values are reflected in actions and behaviors.
- Collaborate with the HR team and business leaders to develop effective attraction and retention strategies across retail and corporate sectors to enhance business performance.
- Lead, develop, and manage a high-performing HR team to support the execution of the commercial agenda.
- Implement a D&I strategy across Japan to foster an inclusive culture and enhance representation at all organizational levels.
- Manage local talent through meaningful development and practical succession planning with a focus on representation.
- Work with the business and Centres of Excellence to optimize both business and individual performance.
- Drive change by introducing innovative thinking in culture, DE&I, and change leadership.
- Build relationships with retail store teams to promote a high-performing and inclusive culture at all store levels.
- Partner with retail business leaders to ensure retail KPIs are integrated into performance management activities at stores.
- Ensure company practices comply with local regulations, aiming to keep the company ahead of competitors in terms of benefits and practices.
Key Experience
- Senior HR Manager experience in an organization of similar scale and complexity.
- Experience in a matrixed environment with headquarters outside Japan.
- Experience in Luxury, Retail, Leisure, or FMCG sectors.
- Extensive experience in designing and implementing DE&I strategies.
- Proven expertise in culture change and employee engagement.
- Strong coaching skills with excellent people skills.
- Global and multicultural experience is an asset.
