Role Requirement
This role combines both defence business development and project delivery responsibilities, requiring a versatile and strategic individual with strong skills in sales, client relationship management, and project coordination.
Winning Business:
- Research: Conduct client, competitor, and market research to inform strategies.
- Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a clear plan to meet annual sales targets, aiming to grow defence business in Japan.
- Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong, positive client relationships to foster repeat business and loyalty.
- Communication Materials: Create persuasive presentations and white papers to support business development.
- Sales Pipeline: Continuously identify, nurture, and close new sales opportunities.
- Brand Strategy: Contribute to local branding efforts that enhance visibility and reputation in the Japanese market.
Delivering Business:
- Client Interface: Serve as the key liaison between Japan-based clients and resources, initially located outside Japan.
- Capability Building: Support the development of project delivery capabilities within Japan, focusing on local growth.
- Translation & Interpretation: Coordinate necessary language services to facilitate clear communication between clients and the company’s resources.
Other Sectors:
Cross-Cutting Areas: Monitor and potentially coordinate with related fields such as space, robotics, and cyber to identify new business opportunities or synergies.
Person Requirements
Essential:
- Strategic & Tactical Skills: The ability to both strategically plan and execute deals, while also supporting the delivery of projects.
- Bilingual Proficiency: Proficient in business-level written and spoken English and Japanese.
- Effective Communication: Strong presentation and briefing skills to engage clients and internal stakeholders.
- Consulting & Training Experience: Proven track record of delivering consulting services, including business transformation projects.
- International Experience: Experience with international businesses operating in Japan or having worked overseas, demonstrating adaptability.
- Self-Starter: Must be proactive, willing to learn, and capable of adopting new approaches.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel both within Japan and internationally as required.
Highly Desirable:
- Technical Services & Solutions: Experience in selling and delivering technical services or solutions, particularly in the defence, space, robotics, or cyber sectors.
- Sales Management Tools: Familiarity with using sales management software to track and manage the sales pipeline.
